Hi, I'm Russell and I've been adopted!
Meet Russell! This adorable chow mix came to us from Contra Costa county, where he was found in horrible conditions as a stray. After health concerns kept him secluded at the shelter, one dedicated volunteer advocated for him to get out of the shelter and into rescue. He’s getting better and stronger by the day! He is a total lovebug, and is looking forward to finding his forever home! He has a very serene, mellow personality, and once he warms up, will give you so much love and affection! We are still getting to know this guy, but he is already super sweet and has a very happy old soul quality to him that can make anyone smile. We think he is about 6-7 years old, and weighs about 45 lbs.
Here is what Russell’s rescuer had to say about him:
“Russell is eating well (loves steak) and has a very regular digestive system! I walked him this evening around MANY people at Heather Farms. Lots of kids leaving camp and people enjoying the park. He is reserved but accepts greetings (and treats!) gently. He is not skittish around noises and crowds, but he watches carefully (a bit “on alert”) Chow Chows are new to me – you all know I am sort of a Pittie person. I am used to the “Hello – I just met you but I have loved you forever, let me cover you with kisses!!!” sort of Pit Bull exuberance! Russell is very calm and docile. But he has climbed into my Pit Bull-loving heart.”
